About
May I introduce myself? My name is Tom Clarke and I am the owner of Prayer Gardeners. My ministry is to help Christians achieve a higher level of spiritual maturity through a deeper understanding of the Bible and a closer walk with the Lord.
Located in Upstate New York, we are spiritually associated with Faith Chapel, Syracuse, NY. Prayer Gardeners maintains the Gethsemane Prayer Garden at Faith Chapel through a network of volunteers.
Being an avid student of the Bible, I have ventured into the areas of writing and publishing. My first book was Joshua's Spiritual Warfare: Understanding the Chiasms of Joshua, Copyright © 2008, Bible Discernments. My second book was A Topical Treasury of Proverbs, Copyright © 2008, Biblical Studies Press. Both books attempt to bring a deeper insight into their respective areas of the Bible.
My third book, A Garden of Love, Copyright © 2009, Bible Discernments, is written from my heart. Using flowers as an illustration, my goal was to use the experiences of a beautiful garden to help bring a deeper presence of love into His people. Love is not taught – instead, it is the essence of God being manifest from the hearts of His people, and expressed outwardly that others might see.
My wife Nancy and I live in Upstate New York. I have two adult daughters, Laurel and Becky.
My Testimony:
I had confessed Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at a Billy Graham Crusade. However, I did not change my angry and compulsive behaviors, which caused my wife and I to grow further and further apart. Five years later she filed for divorce.
My divorce led to a severe depression which lasted for a year. I had lost everything including my relationship with my two daughters. I came to understand spiritual warfare firsthand, but this also began my true conversion to Christianity. After the divorce was finalized, I sought out a wonderful Christian woman and we were soon married. Praise the Lord!
One Sunday at church we were singing a song with the words "I love you, Lord." It was at that point that I realized that I had never told anyone that I love the Lord. I had slowly and methodically fallen in love with our Lord Jesus Christ, and it took a song to show me my heart.
I am now a radically changed man. My anger has gone and my compulsive behaviors have been submitted to the power of the Holy Spirit. I live my life wholeheartedly for my Lord because Christ is within me and the Holy Spirit is upon me.
I study the Bible intently, wanting to understand His words for today's times. I fear the Lord my God because I know His power. I love Him with all my mind and heart and soul; I attempt to obey Him and walk in all His ways; the Lord speaks to me and I listen; I live my life for my Lord; and I do all I can do to serve Him. All this because I love Him that much.
