Shalom Haverim,

Greetings in the name of Yeshua Messiah, our Lord. I pray that all is well with you, and that the favor of our Lord is resting on your life.

A MHM Book Review:

Many of you know how I love to read..., and reading a new book to review can sometime be a real joy, and at other times a very hard task. Today I want to share about a new book that really did bless me; and it was a joy to read this one because it had so much revelation in it. It's only 222 pages, but its packed full of good stuff, rare meat, just like I like it.

Joshua's Spiritual Warfare: Understanding the Chiasms of Joshua by Thomas B. Clarke is a revealing book. For the most part, the book is deep but easy to read. I did find that I had to reread a few chapters to get all the juice out of it that I could. This book is a study in the book of Joshua, a book that teaches us to war like Joshua did.

The book Joshua's Spiritual Warfare will be a new teaching for many people, it was for me. This book opens a new way of looking at the writings in the Bible by looking at what is called the chiastic (ky'-as-tic) approach, and then applying it in the area of "Spiritual Warfare." Very enlightening to me. To tell you the truth, it answered some questions I've had for years now. While normally we read the Scriptures from a top to bottom approach, the chiastic approach offers the reader a more reflective perceptive of the Scriptures.

Now I found out that chiasm (ky'-az-um) is really a writing style, one that organizes themes much like a sandwich does. I'll put it this way:

   A) a firm piece of whole grain bread on top,
      B) some zesty mustard,
         C) a piece of rare beef,
C') another piece of rare beef,
B') and more zesty mustard, and finally
A') another firm piece of whole rain bread on the bottom.

Chiasms generally focus on the BEEF in the middle, but the whole grain bread and hot zesty mustard are necessary for a complete Zesty Sandwich. Some chiasms do not have a zesty mustard layer, other chiasms have lettuce on both sides of the meat as Tom puts it, and some have just one piece of meat instead of two. This was a chapter I reread until I saw it in the Word.

Being a person who always reads a book from a Hebraic perspective, trying to understanding what "chiasms" was, was something new for me. But once I grasped it, I was off and running. The following link will provide you with more info. and some excerpts from the book: http://www.bible-discernments.com/joshua/excerpts.html

When we redo Mayim Hayim's On-line Bookstore this summer, we will add this book to it. For now you can buy it here: http://www.amazon.com/Joshuas-Spiritual-Warfare-Thomas-Clarke/dp/0981621309/

Some of the many questions this book answers are:

I would highly recommend this book to you. We gain nothing from this, only the joy of passing on good books. I'll give this book 4 stars **** for Tom Clarke's spirit-filled insight and its revelation factor.

Shalom,
