A topical arrangement of verses from the book of Proverbs.
"I have been so blessed by my daily readings from this book ... an excellent research tool and devotional guide in a systematic classification of the Proverbs. Subjects chosen are clear and contemporary and give the reader a comprehensive teaching on a subject. Additionally, the appendices are excellent, including a daily reading plan of Proverbs by subject and a verse listing of every topic in each verse. The book is an excellent contribution to an understanding of the book of Proverbs. ... I am amazed at the depth of research that has been put into this book -- the time spent on each verse to classify subjects is truly remarkable" Dr. J. Lee Simmons "Dean of International Center for Christian Leadership" (Kiev, Ukraine), D. Min, Regent University, 2006.
See the full counsel of the Lord from Proverbs.
With A Topical Treasury of Proverbs, you can understand the Lord's full counsel on many topics -- 100 in all. Are you having financial stuggles? Do you know someone with parenting or family issues? Are you in despair over something? Do you want to strengthen your walk with the Lord?
For each topic, you may now read all of the verses from Proverbs that pertain to it. In the book of Proverbs, the various subjects are spread across many chapters -- a topical approach cuts through this disorganization. By analyzing Proverbs in a topical manner, you may read those verses that apply to that subject (Excerpts from the book).
For example, in the topic of Discernment, there are 34 listings that teach how to gain understanding of what may not be obvious. The topic Righteousness shows 84 unique sayings that show how to be right in God's sight and the blessings of being in alignment with Him. In the section on Hope, you will learn the many various ways that the Lord is offering His promises to those in despair.
In this book, verses appear numerous times. Consider Proverbs 3:35 from the NET Bible:
The wise inherit honor, but he holds fools up to public contempt.
This verse is listed in five (5) topics: Consequences (Negative); Foolishness; Honor / Glory; Justice; and Wisdom. Bold has been added to help understand why the verses are categorized as they are. In this way, clarity is added as the topic is emphasized.
In A Topical Treasury of Proverbs, all verses that pertain to that topic are printed, and the words from the NET Bible have not been altered. However, some verses have been combined in such a way as to emphasize a point. Therefore, the emphasis on that topic reveals the full counsel of the Lord.
An added benefit is the Daily Reading Plan. The topics in the Daily Reading Plan not only help keep you on track for the day, but they are combined for the purpose of similarity. For example, on the 9th day of the month, Injustice and Justice are combined together to provide even greater synergy and depth of meaning. Likewise, on the 24th day of the month, Deception, Lie (Untruth), Trust, Trustworthiness and Truthfulness are to be read together to understand the Lord's full counsel on this general area. Those who have used the Daily Reading Plan have unanimously provided very positive feedback.
